Troubling air marshall news -- shooting a man running off a plane?

I don't want to judge too quickly. Still, the NYT description of a man trying to get off a plane flies in the face of the idea that air marshalls are supposed to protect planes, not shoot someone in the back as they run off of one.

More needs to be known, but I'm chillingly reminded of the innocent man shot by paranoid, meant-well, highly trained British police.

I've traveled with friends who hate to fly, and once I wanted a cigarette so much that I exited a "no exit" door in Hawaii to have a puff. Today I get shot for that?

It is the New Normal. Get used to it. Or not. Either way, it's not pretty.
