How do you solve a problem like Alito? Take 2...

By voting your strongly held beliefs, by voting your conscience, by voting the way your constituents would have you vote.

Like that's going to happen.

But let's try anyway.

1. Alito wants to chip away at Roe v. Wade, as indicated here.

2. Alito wants to leave open the option to execute children, in case the Federal government decides to reclaim the option, as indicated here.

3. Alito is proud of his stating clearly that he's against affirmative action, as indicated here.

4. Alito is proud of his stating clearly that he doesn't believe the Constitution protects the right to an abortion, as indicated here.

5. Alito supports the unauthorized strip-searching of a 10-year-old girl not named in a warrant, as he indicated here.

6. Alito doesn't believe that a defendant deserves a competent defense against a capital charge, believing instead that close is good enough, even if the defendant ends up sentenced to death (though later saved by the Supreme Court), as indicated here.

7. Alito doesn't believe the Congress has the power to guarantee workers leave for family or medical reasons, as indicated here.

8. Alito doesn't believe you have to be truthful in a job application, as indicated here.

Update and...

9. Alito doesn't look any better in ths 1984 decision, where he says shoot to kill, copper. Anything less would lead to, er, disorder. As per usual, his opinion was not upheld by the Supremes. Be very afraid.

If Democrats don't believe standing in firm oppostion to a nominee with this record -- possibly butressed by more damaging revelations to be trickled out by a stonewalling Justice Dept. -- then Democrats don't believe in much of anything.
