Mondo Condi — The Flim-Flam Ma'am

TNR's David Corn puts it right: Condoleezza Rice can sell our no-torture stand to Europe, but only if they buy our definition of torture. Chances are Europe will be polite and when Condi leaves they'll be tut-tutting behind her back.

And W. will have gained nothing with the allies except...nothing. Europe is too cynical already to buy Condi's apologizing for the constitutionally unapologetic Bush.

At least it's nice to hear someone in the administration tell something akin to the truth. It's not much, but it's a start, even though it amounts to off-shoring our honesty.

Update: Like we said, they ain't fallin' for it.
